A Deeper Confrontation

Background

For many years, Dr. Helmut Felzmann has been engaged with the scientific, historical, and forensic questions surrounding the Shroud of Turin.

At the center of his work lies the intersection of faith, experience, and science—and the question of what new perspectives emerge for understanding Jesus and the early Christian movement.

Dr. Felzmann studied business administration and worked for many years as managing director of an IT company. Together with his team, he developed software solutions and built a company that became a European market leader in its field.

Yet his life was shaped not only by professional success.

At the age of 19, he experienced a profound existential crisis that initiated a long spiritual search.

Spiritual Journey

In the 1970s, Dr. Felzmann found a spiritual home in an evangelical community connected to the Jesus People movement in California. His initial enthusiasm gradually gave way to increasing inner tension: while the Bible was interpreted literally, critical questions were often dismissed as spiritual weakness.

Many of his questions remained unanswered.

After about ten years, he left this community—combined with the growing realization of how fragile a sense of belonging can be when it depends on conformity.

A longer period of personal reflection and processing led him into a confrontation with very early traumatic experiences—and to a fundamental reorientation of his spiritual perspective.

His encounter with the Shroud of Turin dates back to the 1970s. At that time, he saw it primarily as confirmation of a supernatural resurrection. The question of whether the man in the cloth was dead or alive remained outside his awareness at that time.

The Turing Point

Only in the 1990s did this question come into focus. From then on, Dr. Felzmann began to question his previous assumptions more fundamentally. Since then, he has engaged intensively with the scientific, historical, and forensic findings related to the Shroud of Turin—and with the implications these findings may have for understanding the resurrection and the development of early Christianity.

The Book “Jesus 2.0”

His book project Jesus 2.0 is the result of this decades-long process of inquiry.

In it, Dr. Felzmann approaches Jesus as he appears in the tradition—yet with critical distance. For him, the transformative power lies not in dogmatic assertions, but in a message that has lost none of its relevance even in the 21st century.

Dr. Helmut Felzmann is known for his work on the Shroud of Turin and the question of whether scientific evidence can offer a new interpretation of Jesus and the resurrection.

His work is based on decades of research and engagement with scientific, historical, and forensic evidence.

Coaching

In addition to his work as an author, Dr. Felzmann has been supporting people for many years through personal crises and life transitions.
